Introduction to Leader Development

The need for godly, Christian leaders is greater today than ever before. Few truly understand the essence of godly leadership or have a handle on how to intentionally grow as a leader. What are the principles and key concepts of effective, godly leadership? What are the most important growth stages or development phases to be alert to? How do I become intentional about my own development as a Christian leader? Six critical concepts provide an introductory exposure to the study of leadership development and the formation of a leader.

The Leadership Challenge

This workshop is designed to guide participants through the process of applying The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership to their real life leadership challenges. Throughout the workshop you will find a proven systematic approach to exemplary leadership. This workshop is not just about leadership training, it is about applying five foundational practices to all aspects of life and ministry. We will use both The Leadership Challenge and Christian Reflections on The Leadership Challenge (Kouzes and Posner) as foundational texts for the course.

Managing & Transferring Your Organization’s Culture

Participants will study and discuss the major elements and necessary conduits of value transfer. The course includes two major activities which demonstrate how an organization’s values and culture are transferred and the difficulty and often inability to do so. Through group discussion, principles and steps are developed for value engagements throughout an organization.

Becoming a Facilitative Leader

Increasingly mission organizations need “servant leaders” who can get others to assume responsibility and to take the lead, without taking the reins. Facilitation is a new role for leaders involving group members in key aspects of leadership. What are the key practices of leaders to be better facilitators for their team? How do facilitative leaders aid in planning, decision-making and problem solving?

Leader Development

Coaching and Mentoring

Organizations are realizing the amazing impact that coaching and mentoring programs can have on the development of leadership at all levels in the organization. This advanced track topic will explore both the fundamentals of coaching and mentoring, give examples of some "best practices" and help the participant to develop or improve coaching and mentoring in their own organization.

Leader Development

One of the key responsibilities of any leader is the selection and development of other leaders. These sessions will focus on some practical approaches to develop leaders within your organization or ministry. The goal would be the creation of a "leadership engine" that effectively develops "bench strength" and depth and provides a solid foundation for the future.
